I have been in healthcare for over 10 years and I have the desire to change fields. I have a undergrad degree in healthcare management (BS), a graduate degree in radiologic science and I will finish another graduate degree in management (MA) in early 2015. I work for the VA, but moving out of my department has been a problem since I am so specialized in radiology. I would like to stay in the VA, however, I am open to options. Any advice?

Don't transition out of healthcare. Move to Houston where our Texas Medical Center has thousands of openings.
Hi Robert,
Thank you for 14 years of service. I am a certified Radiologic Technologist who went into an educational track teaching in a Rad Tech program. Did you work as a technologist or get certified by the ARRT? One thing you could look at is switching to a career in education teaching others what you have learned. If you are not a certified technologist, you could always obtain your certification and move over to that field. With so many modalities to choose from in Radiology, you wouldn't have much time to get tired of the work. Thanks, Loretta Carter

I don't know if there are positions in San Diego, but it might be worth a trip to see the possibilities.
@Loretta- I am ARRT certified & currently work at a VA hospital doing CT. I have enjoyed my time in radiology, but I feel like I thrive away from direct patient care. There is no upward advancement in my present position, thus the desire for a career change.
@Richard- My daughter is in school and I need to stay put here in San Diego. Maybe one day I can consider a move!
