I started a company in 2013 to compete for government contracts. I'd like a mentor to advise me on the next steps, available resources and opportunities to help my small business advance

Hi,
Do you live near a community college that has a small business development center or an entrepreneurship center? These are great places to find mentors and advisors. California has a great network of community colleges, so you might benefit by checking out a couple that are close to you to see if they can be of assistance. Good luck!

Thank you for the timely response. Pretty impressive profile... How's the weather in PA?? California is beautiful as ever.... Well, let me give you a bit of background to see if you're able to provide a spark.

Last year, a close friend of mine (business owner) wanted to sponsor me to do work in Ohio as my own entity. Unfortunately with government sequestration, funding was pulled from various programs including the program I was projected to work. To make a long story short, I started a company under the impression I was going to execute a contract. When government pulled funding--my program was canceled. I was about a week out from departing--glad I didn't quit my job.

Now I have a registered company in the state of Ohio but still living in Los Angeles. After the plug was pulled, frustration set in and I was about ready to give it up. Every time I wanted to compete for something there was always a hurdle I was unable to overcome. Seems it was always something. Anywho, My goal is to set up the entity here in Los Angeles and compete for contracts in the state of California. There tons of opportunities in the land of milk and honey but it seems I'm missing some pieces to being a serious competitor. Even though I'm an 80% disabled veteran with an MBA it's still a struggle working through the wickets to secure business for my entity.

What say you?
