Entry Level Certifications/Training for the Cyber Security field

Veteran

Shawn Day Reynoldsville, PA

I am interested in a career in cyber security when I exit the military next year. I have no prior experience, but it is a field that I have been interested in my entire life. I actually tried to enter the cyber domain when I joined the military. My questions is: What are some good entry-level certifications or training opportunities that I could obtain to further my knowledge?

Hello Shawn, I'm currently an Air Force Reservist in the Cyber career field and work for a bank doing IT. Depending on what your goals are, I would say to obtain your A+, Network+, Security+ or other certifications to market yourself while laying the foundation of an IT career. If this is your passion and you're not cross-training over to a Communications AFSC, I'd say to get some certs and formal education to go along with that. It will definitely help because I know that we're hiring across our enterprise.
