I was a Project Manager and taught PM for many years a 3 universities and the California Community College system and didn't have the PMP certification. On one occasion I had a guy in class with the PMP certification and wasn't impressed. Evidently he only got it in hopes of getting his ticket punched. It's a good certification but if you have experience, that's the your best asset.

Good Luck

Joel,
Take a look at this website for veteran's programs: http://vets.syr.edu/education/employment-programs/
I believe they have a project management program that doesn't use up your GI Bill and is free. If you use the GI Bill, you won't be able to get the BAH stipend unless the program is accredited.
