Hi Paul, I suggest that you contact the International Coach Federation (ICF) for advice about grants. If you do decide to go for life coaching training, it makes sense to attend an accredited ICF school. Their website offers options.
I provide no cost transition coaching to returning veterans and find it to be most satisfying as well as an honor. Glad to chat by phone. Www.waypointcoach.com
Actually for a SVD there is a grant if you utilize the VA Voc Rehab Program. Go to: http://www.benefits.va.gov/vocrehab/index.asp?utm_source=hootsuite&utm_campaign=hootsuite to see if you qualify.
There's two levels: Category II provides up to $25,000 for training and other start up expenses. No cash goes directly to the Veteran. Category I can offer much greater amounts but self-employment must determined to be your most likely best option for a career. This requires approval at both the regional and DC VA VRE.
