About Christopher
Half my education career was as a high school teacher in the Chicago area, a school administrator in Wisconsin, Missouri and Virginia and the other half was as a professor of education leadership in Virginia, Ohio, Maryland and Indiana for a total of 42 years in the field of education. I wanted to do something constructive that would make a difference for students with my working career and I did and would do it again since it provided many personal rewards in terms of relationships with students from high school thru graduate school over the years and gave me an opportunity to make a contribution to the profession as well as individual students going forward as they became productive citizens, scholars, teachers and even professors in a few cases over the years. I advised many students as part of my professional life and also served as an enlisted USAF sergeant during the Vietnam era for five years before returning to civilian life and campus as an undergraduate student on the Vietnam era G. I. Bill at Drake University in Des Moines, Iowa. I went on to earn a masters degree at Northern Illinois University and a doctorate at University of Wisconsin, Madison. Along the way I received mentoring from several individuals and only want to give back to today's vets to honor that mentoring. I'm also an active member of my local American Legion Post#44 in Newburgh, IN. and would urge any recent vet looking for a community for support to consider joining their local post as well...it's a good place to start your network with people who have served and have experiences like yours.
