About George

I am the founder and Managing Partner of Nictom Consulting Group (Nictom). Nictom’s primary strength is helping organizations to achieve business excellence and superior performance by focusing on process optimization, operations excellence and sustainable business results.
Prior to founding Nictom, I served as the National Director of Operations Excellence for Deloitte, the world’s largest professional services firm. In that capacity I was accountable for activities across multiple businesses and support channels in both the U.S. and India. My primary focus was to work with senior executives to identify, prioritize, and drive high-value operational improvement initiatives and projects that added value for Deloitte’s clients and its people. During my tenure with Deloitte the teams under my direction acclaimed more than $150 million in value to the firm.
Preceding Deloitte, I was a Partner at IBM Business Consulting Services (formerly PwC [Pricewaterhouse Coopers] Consulting). I led IBM’s Lean Sigma consulting services practice as the Americas Theater Leader; and concurrently served as the Operations Strategy Partner and practice leader for the Public Sector. My areas of expertise include executive coaching, operations excellence, strategic change, Baldrige deployment, organizational transformation, process management and measurement, strategy execution, voice of the customer, and benchmarking.
My consulting clients included C-suite executives and other senior leaders in the U.S., Europe and Asia at companies and organizations including Caterpillar Inc., GMAC Mortgage, AIG, State Street Bank, The LG Group, Verizon and Bell Atlantic, Danbury Healthcare Systems, Wellmark (a Blue Cross-Blue Shield entity), Trizec Properties, Service Master, British Petroleum, Johnson and Johnson, the Harris Corporation, NASA, the U.S. Army, , the U.S. Navy, the U.S. Air Force, the Department of Homeland Security, Tennessee Valley Authority , IBM and Deloitte.
My career also includes a span of almost 20 years with a global Fortune 500 firm, serving the final three years as the corporate Quality Director. In this capacity I oversaw the strategic design, development and deployment of a corporate wide organizational assessment initiative. The initiative helped senior executives across 57 business units to identify critical areas for business improvement and to put in place a structure to support organizational change efforts. He successfully proved his ability to interface with senior executives and management at all levels of the organization and to effectively influence the design of strategy and tactical plans.
I served as an Examiner for the Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Award for four years and as a Senior Examiner and member of the Steering Committee for the NY State Governor's Award for Excellence. I was a Senior Fellow in the American Society for Quality and held Certified Quality Manager accreditation as well as certification as a Master Black Belt of Lean Six Sigma.
I am recognized globally for my thought leadership. My writings on business performance and operations excellence issues have been published in leading journals and publications. I am often invited to conferences and seminars as a speaker on the topics of organizational transformation, operations excellence and leadership. I have served on various Boards in both the public and not-for-profit sectors.
I hold an MBA in General Management and earned a certificate in Advanced Operations Strategy from the Harvard Business School. I am a member of the National Honor Society in Business Administration, American Mensa and a U.S. Army Veteran of the Vietnam Era.
