About Ryshawn

Introduction

I was born and raised in Flint, MI, where I lived there most of my life. In 1994, I moved to Texas to share residence with my father. Upon graduating high school, I obtained my ASAD in Drafting Technology from GCC. Then moved to Arlington, TX the following fall to pursue a BS in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Texas. In 2013, I decided to go back to school and get my MBA from Millikin University.
I am proud to say that I graduated with honors "Cum Laude" from all three programs.

In 2002, I was hired by Caterpillar as a design engineer. After completing two years of design and test work for the Tractor Division, I was offered the opportunity to obtain cross functional experience in marketing. This job change led me to move to Colorado as a marketing representative for Caterpillar. After 6 years of customer interaction, I accepted a position to move to Decatur as a project manager in Quality for the Motor Graders department. In 3 years, I successfully resolved over 30 issues and served a lead on the continuous product/process development team. Next, I accepted a position in Human Resources as the Diversity and Inclusion Champion in the Earthmoving division. Now I focus on improving overall work climate and culture and recruiting from affinity organizations like NSBE, SHPE and SWE.

In 2006, I married Felicia Joyce of Chicago Illinois. We have three beautiful children (Ava born in 2007, Elijah born in 2008, and Alexandria born in 2014).
