About Byron

I've worked in the federal government since the early 1990s, starting as a GS-7. I moved several times for promotions that I was competitively selected for, ending up as a GS14 in an intelligence position I've held for 17 years now. I work closely with special agents from several agencies and know the federal law enforcement and intelligence scene pretty well. I have a BA in Political Science that I completed after a short stint in the Army (mid-80s), mostly in Germany, as a Pershing II nuclear missile crewman. I'm looking forward to fishing and restoring vintage motorcycles when I retire in a year or so.

I recently retired as an USAF Reservist and left my DoD Contractor position last year, and recently found that my clearances are no longer valid. I know I am good with my SECRET until 2021 and when I left my contract position my TS/SCI was about to be adjudicated. Does anyone know a point of contact in the government to fix my clearance? I got no help from my former employer and my past Security Managers are limited to what they see in JPAS. Any assistance will be greatly appreciated as it is hindering my search for a new position.

I think there is nothing you can do to retain your security clearance without a job that requires that clearance. ...
