Networking in Columbia, SC/ Ft. Jackson- Logistics

Veteran

Tiffany White Rock Hill, SC

I've been applying to both contract and GS positions in the Columbia, SC/Ft. Jackson area for the past 3 years with 0 luck of an interview. Does anyone have any tips on how to obtain a logistic job on Ft. Jackson or know of any organizations that can help? Former 92A(Army)

Hi Tiffany,
Applying to GS / Federal jobs is an art in itself and requires a very different resume than you would use for applying to civilian jobs. I would first read these websites about how to write a resume that is in the specific format for a government system to be able to get through the system with specific key words. And create a resume that is specific to a logistics job:
https://www.usajobs.gov/Help/faq/application/documents/resume/what-to-include/
https://www.indeed.com/career-advice/resumes-cover-letters/how-to-write-a-federal-resume
https://www.dhs.gov/homeland-security-careers/tips-writing-federal-resume

As others mentioned, I would expand where you are applying. Once you get a federal logistics job it would be fairly easy to transfer to another one at the location you desire when it opens up.

I would expand my options. I began working in banking within 4 months of retirement. There are tons of opportunity for veterans in banking in the Charlotte area.
