What is the hiring process in BP or any energy company and what type of candidates are these companies looking for?
Thank you for the question.
I see you have B.A in transportation and logistics management. The interview process at BP is rather straight forward. I would suggest creating a career profile on our careers platform and uploading your resume. We are constantly posting many roles on our site, as well as on LinkedIn, Hirepurpose etc. I would also suggest you connect with one of our recruiters on LinkedIn to network. I can help facilitate a connection for you if interested.
If you apply for a role , you will receive an email if you move to the next stage and contacted by a recruiter. Depending on the role the interview style is very situational and may have a technical element.
Based on your educational experience and military experience, you have the qualifications to make you a good candidate in our Supply Chain group, procurement and a few others. I would stress ensuring your resume has captured the leadership, safety, and team skills that you have from your military experience.
Please reach out to me for further support if needed.
Richard, Steve, and Yasmin have provided you with great advise already. I'd add to their comments that you can set up a search agent on our careers site to send you alerts when roles are posted based on your interests. Roles are typically posted with details that include essential experience, which provides general information regarding the type of candidate who would be successful in the role.
Best of luck in your search, and please feel free to reach out to me if you think I can be of any help in the future.
Like Richard said, BP offers a wide variety of opportunities in various internal businesses from exploration to refining to chemical to alternative energy. Skill set and personal motivation play a big part in succeeding at BP - a career with BP can literally take you across the globe depending on what you are looking for.
Thank you, Richard!
In general, BP is looking for individuals who can handle a high level of responsibility, who can work well in a dynamic and competitive environment and who can adapt to regions with different requirements (we work in 60+ countries on 6 continents) - sound familiar? At the same time, you have to be humble enough to ask for support when you reach a roadblock. No one person knows everything about everything. BP maintains subject matter experts in just about every field imaginable to support teams.
From a technical perspective, BP hires every profession from geologists to ship captains to engineers (every branch) to surveyors to lawyers to computer techies to administrators to logistics experts to technical writers to translators to astronauts (we have several) to scientists to graphic artists to publicists.
To apply, my suggestion is to visit our main website and upload your profile and then check back regularly to see if any jobs are of interest to you.
Good morning Yasmin, thank you for taking the time to reach out. Yes, I would like to have a Linkedin connection with a BP recruiter. I'm definitely going to use the tips that you gave me.
