Looking for advisors from or connections to earth moving/construction equipment companies...

Hi all. My venture capital backed vet empowered and empowering startup HeroHomes.com is looking to do a proof-of-concept major mixed-use real estate development in North Carolina. We’re thinking about trading developable lots to retired Corps of Engineers, Seabees, and Combat Engineers for work doing site prep, to include most prominently digging out the uniquely allowed two yacht harbors. We think a firm like Caterpillar or Case or Kubota donating the use of the equipment would be quite newsworthy, and the basis of significant future paying business for them. Please advise or suggest who I should talk to. Reed M. Benet reed@herohomes.com 415-342-3634

Hi Reed,

Thank you for posting - sounds like a noble venture!

It seems like you have several moving parts to this plan. Are you requesting donated equipment, or looking for feedback on how to potentially acquire it? Likewise are you looking into how to build the relationships that would be necessary to get a venture like this off the ground?

In terms of getting advice on how to build up this venture, I strongly recommend you take a look at AdvisorNet's Community tab. You'd want to reach out to Advisors that have experience with those companies, experience running major real estate projects, or experience with handing the PR of these types of projects. If you shoot me a message, I'm happy to brainstorm ways to reach out.

Beyond that, I’d recommend you utilize LinkedIn to see if you can get in touch directly with employees who work at Caterpillar, Case or Kubota, as they could have on-the-ground perspective that others might not.

Lastly, I’d encourage you to take a look at some of the following resources, as they could be helpful in building out HeroHomes:

1) SCORE, for volunteer business mentors: https://www.score.org/
2) VETCORP, for entrepreneurial resources: http://www.veteranscorp.org/
3) Lean Canvas, for working out your idea (if needed): https://bmtoolbox.net/wp-content/uploads/2016/05/Tool_24_leancanvas.jpg

Thanks for aiming high in your efforts to empower Veterans - I hope we can continue to help!

Best,
Mikhail
