Colonel,

Below is an example of an SCM related job posting at Deloitte, it will give you an idea of the type of background and experience that would be required. The key for you will be translating your military experienced into civilan capability.

Mr. Rigole. Thanks for your question. Your leadership and SCM experience should translate well to the consulting profession and there is generally high demand for SCM professionals in the DC area. For more senior executives (like yourself) I typically suggest that you try to establish a direct connection rather than posting to a generic job description. If beneficial, I can put you in touch with one of our recruiters to explain further.

My suggestion - for what it is worth: Get a J. D. to have access to senior Corporate positions, or to be successful in consulting. That' s what allowed me to found my own successful 28 year consulting firm. If interested, contact me for more information.

Colonel,

First of all thanks for your service and congratulations on an exceptional career. To add on to Matt’s response, I suggest you use your network to make connections at consulting firms. Also, many firms have specific points-of-contact for Veterans, these contacts are usually found on companies’ career pages via www, Facebook or linkedin. If you have a linkedin account, one way to increase your network reach is to use your first tier network to find second level contacts at companies you are interested in and ask them to make an intro. Good luck as you begin your transition into civilian life.
