CIMA Certification

Veteran

Peter Kozelka Oak Park, IL

Good Afternoon Everyone,
I had a fairly specific question for this group, and would be very happy if anyone could give me some feedback. Has anyone in this group successfully completed the certified investment management analyst (CIMA) certification? My specific questions are if people had used the post 9/11 GI Bill to pay for the classroom training and if I could speak to someone about the relevance of the certification. (FYI I was considering pursuing the CIMA in addition to, rather than as a substitute for the CFA).
Thanks,
Peter Kozelka

What job are you looking to secure? What career path do you want to take? Designations are great so long as they're in line and create value for where you want to go. I also see your in Illinois. If you have time later on this week give me a call I'd love to learn more about what you want to do 312-344-0999 and make sone inductions to individuals who have those credentials.

If your desire is gain employment as an analyst then I think the CFA could be more important (but I think lvl 3 or so). CIMA is good in many shops and certainly for an advisor to demonstrate his commitment to being a better portfolio advisor. I can not speak to the GI Bill and I would not say that either designation is going to help you get your first role in this space.
