I would suggest going to YouTube for better insights. That helped me as I had to roll out Salesforce with my team.

Saleforce ( or SFDC ) uses a proprietary form of REST / JSON to manipulate objects within its scope.

You can create a no-cost developer profile and, using Eclipse with Java, practice making calls to the DEV region.

If your prospective employer is expecting you to have experience, then you might pass on this opportunity and try another. If , on the other hand, the employer is willing to accept you with no experience, it may be a great chance for you to break into cutting edge development.
