WJZY and WMYT, Fox O&O serving the Charlotte, NC region is seeking a Maintenance Engineer / Digital Systems. The Maintenance Engineer will manage the technical operations of this Fox O&O duopoly in accordance with FCC, OSHA, and Corporate Engineering Standards and practices that meets SMPTE/IEEE and ATSC and other applicable specifications. In addition to maintenance duties for Engineering, this employee will install and turn up new technologies and provide necessary operator training to match department workflow. As needed this position supports repair and maintenance of the facility. Knowledge, Abilities and Skills: In depth knowledge of broadcast technical operations including IP based equipment. Extensive knowledge and experience with hardware, software, and multiple OS of servers and PC’s is required. Ability to work with any manufacturer on applications. Basic understanding of networking devices on multiple LANs and connecting to WANS is a plus. Strong organizational and communication skills. Ability to understand and implement written procedures and directives a current working knowledge of IT and broadcast equipment, an understanding of multiple formats of video and transport streams. A clear working knowledge of multiple digital media formats and basics of transcoding. Ability to maintain satellite operations. Ability to establish and maintain harmonious relationships. Maintain confidentiality regarding company information.

Education: Minimum Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
Experience: 3 years engineering experience working in a TV broadcast news environment.
Credentials: Must have a valid NC/SC driver’s license. Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds, reach above one’s head and climb ladders.

Ancillary Training a plus:
ITX Automation system training and experience
OSHA Electrical (NEC) lockout/tag out training
SBE certification
Network IT training
FCC General Class license
OSHA MSDS training
RF transmitter and microwave training or experience
Satellite installation and maintenance training
