Overview
The Nassau-Suffolk Hospital Council based in Hauppauge, NY, is seeking a Regulatory and Emergency Preparedness Manager. Reporting to the Chief Operating Officer, the Regulatory and Emergency Preparedness Manager will be working directly with the COO for providing support with regulatory issues related to hospital compliance, quality, revenue, nursing, human resources and emergency preparedness. Support the design and development of programs and written materials for staff at member hospitals.

The salary for this position is between $70,000 and $80,000 annually.

Key responsibilities include but are not limited to:
• Helps to meet the grant deliverables of the NYSDOH Hospital Preparedness Program for the Long Island region, including attending in person coalition meetings, acting as liaison to the NYS regional representative for the Long Island region and participating in certain emergency drills as an observer
• Researches, analyzes, monitors and summarizes legislative and regulatory issues impacting member hospitals
• Supports the development of written materials to educate policy makers, member hospitals, community partners and the public on assigned policy issues
• Contributes to the planning and facilitation of member-facing events including committee meetings and educational programs. Participates in follow-up activities including preparation of meeting minutes.
• Helps develop issue-specific research reports to support the advocacy agenda of the organizations through analyzation of data and preparation of statistical reports
• Prepares responses to member-driven research requests
• Identifies opportunities for programs and/or services that will support member hospitals and their staff
• Manages and updates the Association Management System
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree with a minimum of 2 years of related experience or Master’s degree in public health, health administration or public policy required. An equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to satisfactorily perform the duties of the job may be substituted
• Strong analytical skills with working knowledge and understanding of public health issues and policy
• Must be highly organized with strong interpersonal skills with the ability to foster and promote positive relationships among diverse stakeholders
• The flexibility to work extended hours during times of regional and statewide emergencies
• Strong presentation and public speaking skills
• Exceptional oral and written communication skills with attention to detail
• Flexible to travel locally and regionally when needed.
