Do you dream of working in the fascinating world of law enforcement forensics? The Pennsylvania State Police is looking for a qualified and experienced individual to fill a Forensic Scientist 2 position within their Harrisburg Regional Laboratory's Toxicology Section.
DESCRIPTION OF WORK:
As a Forensic Scientist 2 within the Toxicology Section, you will perform qualitative and quantitative analyses on physical evidence submitted for toxicology testing using acceptable methods of identification including, but not limited to, microscopy, spectroscopy, and chromatography employing techniques accepted by the Scientific Working Group for Forensic Toxicology (SWGTOX)/Organization of Scientific Area Committees (OSAC) Toxicology Subcommittee. You will also be responsible for testifying in court as an expert witness when required, on chain of custody, analytical techniques and the result of analysis of evidence examined.

•Work hours Monday through Friday 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. with 30 minute lunch
•This position has been identified as performing critical duties. Prior to placement in the job, the selected candidate, regardless of their current job, must submit a Report of Medications for screening by the State Police Medical Officer.
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY:
Qualifications: •Minimum Experience and Training Requirements - One year as a Forensic Scientist 1; OR One year as a Forensic DNA Scientist 1; OR Two years of professional laboratory work experience in the chemical, physical or biological analysis and comparison of criminal evidence and a bachelor’s degree in chemistry, biology, forensic science or a closely related physical or natural science, which includes or is supplemented by 16 college credits in chemistry.
•This particular position requires that applicants possess two years of full-time professional laboratory work experience in forensic toxicology related to drug testing.
•PA residency requirement is waived for this position.
