About Joseph (Joe)
I have spent 36 years in Commercial Banking after having graduated from Central Michigan University with a Master's degree in Business Administration in 1982. Prior to that, I graduated from Central Michigan University with a Bachelor's degree in Accounting and worked in separate jobs for General Motors and Michigan Bell over the next two years.
After receiving my graduate degree, I started my banking career early in 1983 at Union Bank & Trust where I was trained in Credit Administration as an Analyst for 1-1/2 years before becoming a Commercial Loan Officer in 1985. After having spent the next 20 years of my career selling Financial Services including commercial loans to operating companies, I moved into the management ranks and became a Commercial Loan Manager. Since that time, I have managed or advised teams of Commercial Bankers on best practices including underwriting loan requests, managing existing client relationships, prospecting new businesses, teaching proper communication with clients and working with Commercial Bankers in bull and bear markets.
I am passionate about all aspects of selling Financial Services in a Commercial Banking environment and about mentoring young professionals who seek a career in Banking. I also enjoy building successful teams, working with professionals having diverse backgrounds and investing my time working with those who want to learn the nuances of the industry.
Outside of work, I particularly enjoy travel, spending time in the outdoors, reading, walking and cycling. But most of all, I love spending time with family including my three married children and two grandchildren. I enjoy spending time in the Rocky Mountains and look forward to spending time in the west when I retire.
