About Stanley
US Navy from 1959 to 1963; Navy boot camp in San Diego; went thru E&EP (electronics) in Great Lakes; spent several months in Albuquerque's Sandia Base, for nuclear weapons training; served 2 years aboard USS Topeka (CLG-8) where I made 3rd class Nuclear weapons man; then transferred to the USS Prairie, a destroyer tender out of San Diego & Yakuska, Japan. But, the Prairie had no billets for a nuclear weapons man. I joined the ship's diving team as a OJT trainee for 2nd class diver - loved the work, but left the Navy to go back to school.
