About Amy
I am a former Marine who turned to sales after struggling through the transition process from active duty, followed by the transitional nature of being the wife of a Marine turned Government contractor. I only began focusing on my own "brand" and career in the last few years after my 4 children grew older and I was working in the recruiting industry. I developed a nitche for helping companies recruit and retain veterans, and in the process identified key areas of need in the translation of skills between the HR world of the private sector and the military world. My passion is decoding those barriers and breaking down the walls of communication to make not only a veteran's transition smoother, but giving non-militar private companies the information and confidence to know they can be a secondary resource to the benefits available to the vets they hire. I know that no matter what I am selling or doing, assisting Veterans in branding themselves and selling their skills to companies will always be something I do. As our private sector and academia worlds begin to see the value in the soft skills that are honed by military discipline, I hope to be part of a more integrated and proactive future that encourages educators to promote military as a post-secondary option, a private sector that works with the military to provide training and transitional internships, and a military that understands a more "bottom-line" and results-driven job market that its members are entering and prepares them to be business-minded in their processes.
