About Travis

I am a business attorney at THE JACOBS LAW LLC in Boston, Massachusetts. I started the firm in 2008 as a solo attorney out of my apartment, and have since built it into a successful Boston-based business law firm devoted almost entirely to advancing the interests of small and mid-sized businesses and the entrepreneurs that are at the heart of each of them.

At THE JACOBS LAW LLC, we are a small business too - we do our own marketing, accounting, legal (of course), business development, and business management - so we truly understand the time, effort and dedication it takes to run your own business. And one of the main reasons I started this firm was to fill a void in the provision of quality and cost effective legal services to small and mid-sized businesses.

I've been interested in helping veterans for many years now. My sister was engaged to a Marine who died in the early months of the war in Iraq when his Humvee was struck by a roadside bomb. That really brought home for me the sacrifice, and the daily risk of the ultimate sacrifice, that our servicemen and women make and that our veterans have made. His plan was to use his military benefits to start a business when he returned home. Maybe I can help other veterans achieve their dreams and goals of starting and owning their business.

I started my education at Northern Essex Community College in Lawrence/Haverhill, Massachusetts, where I earned a 2 year Associate Degree in Paralegal Studies. I then attended Bentley University in Waltham, Massachusetts and earned a Bachelor Degree in International Studies; where I graduated summa cum laude. I worked for about a year after college and was accepted with a partial scholarship to the London School of Economics in London, United Kingdom. There I earned a Masters Degree in Development Studies (economic, social and political development). I returned from London and worked again for a year as a paralegal. I then attended Suffolk University Law School and earned a Juris Doctorate in Law. While in law school I returned to the London School of Economics for a summer to earn a Certificate in International Law.

I passed the Massachusetts bar exam and started THE JACOBS LAW LLC in June 2008, just weeks after my swearing-in ceremony. I am now licensed to practice law in Massachusetts, the Federal District of Massachusetts and First Circuit Court as well as the Supreme Court of the United States.

As a small business owner myself, I have limited time to volunteer, but I beleive that devoting some of that time to assist a veteran to start a business or address some business-related legal issue would be an extremely rewarding use of that time.
