About Chip
My background is (military) healthcare within the Clinical Laboratory, both as an enlisted technician, then as a Laboratory Officer/Manager and healthcare leader within hospitals and medical centers. I then became very involved in Healthcare IT at the DoD/enterprise-level, where I excelled in leading people and projects as a Program/Project Manager.
My Healthcare IT experience is extremely broad, encompassing all medical specialties and project sizes varying from small specialty applications to enterprise-level projects that were deployed worldwide within the DoD; while I was in the military and also post-retirement in my business as a contractor.
I do not have civilian/commercial Healthcare IT experience, which might be a limitation both for seeking a job and for pursuing business opportunities in that sector.
I am extremely detail-oriented, excellent verbal, and written communication skills with Executives down to field-level end-users.
While I am an excellent leader, I also know how to empower those around me to help them and me make educated choices, to provide information as needed to accomplish the mission. Having been enlisted and as an officer, I understand how and when to follow, to delegate, and I'm also willing to lead when it's not the easiest or most popular thing to do.
I am looking for Healthcare IT positions (either as a civilian or a US Government Contractor), typically as a Director, Program, or Project Manager.
I'm also interested in restarting a Healthcare IT business that I founded and ran for 8 years, and then with no new contracts I let it lapse for about 5 years. I'm exploring whether this is the time to build it back up to seek contracts as a US Government Healthcare IT Prime or subcontractor, or in the civilian sector.
I am a member of HIMSS and am also studying to take my PMP exam.
I have a Bachelor's degree in Biology and an Associates in Medical Laboratory Technology.
