About Anne
I was born and raised in the Boston area, now live in New Hampshire (one hour to Boston, one hour to the seacoast, one hour to the mountains), grew up in an Irish immigrant family, in an immigrant neighborhood (Irish, Italian, Scottish, German, Armenian, Greek). I have an undergraduate Social Work degree but have worked in IT for my entire career.
My passion - all things outside, hiking, boating, cycling. I have 2 kayaks, one made by Bart Hauthaway (deceased) in his house in Weston, MA. I'll hang that on a wall in my house before I'd ever give it away, great boat. I have a great dog, a Sato (stray dog from Puerto Rico), her name is Prairie Dog aka "The Benevolent One". I have fostered two dogs that now have great homes, each on a lake.
I am a civilian volunteer for the United States Coast Guard Auxiliary. I am boat crew qualified, a vessel examiner, working towards AUXOP (Operational Auxiliarist), and am an appointed staff officer for my flotilla. It's a great way to be of service doing something I love (being outside, "seriously" volunteering, learning new things all the time). My flotilla has an association to a small boat station and has given me insight to what it means to be active duty in service to our country. I respect and admire all the shipmates there and try to help them in any way that is possible for them to continue in their mission.
