About Ashley
In 2007, I commissioned as a 2nd Lieutenant for the USAF with a B.Sc in Biomedical Science and a minor in Business. I was assigned AFSC 13S3A, Space & Missile Operations. As a 1st Lieutenant I served as interim GPS Maintenance Flight Commander where I supervised 3 military personnel and 20+ government contractors, coordinated schedule requests with operational activities to avoid scheduling conflict, served as liaison between contractors and squadron commander, utilized Quality Assurance Evaluator certification to monitor contractor’s performance, delivered weekly & monthly presentations for ongoing projects and contractor proposals, prepared charts and monthly reports to track maintenance activities, and led weekly teleconferences with contractors from 6 global remote sites. This experience encouraged my desire to have a career in the science-based company while utilizing leadership and management skills developed in USAF.
In 2011, I separated from the USAF and used the GI-Bill to attend graduate school full-time. July 2013 I will complete Biotechnology M.Sc and MBA. I believe that this interdisciplinary dual degree program is the first step to fulfilling my long-term goal of becoming a manager/leader in the Biotechnology Industry. While I have a clear direction, I struggle to focus my efforts because I am unaware of well-suited positions/career paths that exist and how to market myself so that my lack of experience in industry becomes less of challenge. Any insights provided will be appreciated.
