About Sara
Licensed Master Social Worker with experience working with transitioning service members. I have worked with service members and Veterans for 5 years in their transition out of the military into civilian life. I have worked as a Career Specialist guiding and assisting clients in discovery and development of career opportunities, and have provided care coordination services for Veterans navigating the VA system.
During my masters program, my emphasis research has been the transition of service members from military to civilian life and into the post-secondary education system and how institutions can improve this transition. I have worked on the SEK-CAP Veteran Leadership Advisory Committee to identify matters of interest to our Veterans and to reach out and better serve our Veterans in Crawford County Kansas.
Colleagues know me as a passionate Veteran Advocator who can always be trusted to get the job done and come up with new approaches. Through all this, the Veteran comes first and is the reason I am so passionate about my work and research. I spend a lot of time understanding the military culture, obstacles Veterans may face in their transition out of the military, and the culture structure of the organizations, colleges, and universities, Veterans will be transitioning to before suggesting ideas.
