About Joseph

My name is Joseph Yslas and I am a retired Marine Corps Corporal. I served from 2002 to 2010 and was also deployed in Operation Iraqi Freedom and Operation Enduring Freedom in 2003.

After I got out from the military I used my immediate knowledge to work in security while I went back to school to get me degree. Ever since I was a child I knew what I wanted towork in the field of Architecture/Engineering, so I went back to get my Computer Aided Drafting Design & Technology Degree. I graduated in 2010 and have even gone back to start taking classes to get my Engineering Degree.

I have been working as a professional drafter/designer for that last 7 years and have another combined 2-3 years of school house training (high school and college).

I currently work was URS Corp. in Lakewood Colorado, and I help design midstream oil and gas pipeline stations. I have been here less than 1 year and the technical side is still very new to me.

The previous 5 years were spent working in Kansas City Missouri as a designer for a Architectural/Engineering firm that specialized in designing laboratories for research facilities, goverment and higher education campuses. I worked on the desing side of things by designing the layout of lighintg and components, power distribution and telecommunications systems.

Outside of work, I have a wife of 6 years, and 2 children. Trying to find a balance of your time in this industry is important because of the odd hours and project deadlines. I am sometimes required to work long or odd hours to meet those deadline, and it is my responsibility to myself and my family to ensure my time and attention is equally divided.
