I’m a 24 year combat veteran (Navy) originally from South Central Los Angeles. I retired in 2020 as the Chief Diversity Officer and Leading Chief of Strategic Innovation for the Navy Reserve HQ.
I benefited greatly from my ACP mentor who was instrumental in helping me navigate the transition into my post-military career. Now on this side of the fence, I’m eager to pay it fwd - as a veteran, or soon to be one, you have so much more to offer than what you might give yourself credit for - and that's from the selfless nature of the work that we inherently do in the military – balance is key.
I spent most of my military career in the expeditionary environment - in total 13 deployments across South America and the Middle East. The latter part of my career I spent in HR/Major Staff assignments doing EEO, Strategic Innovation work and operationalizing DEI using agile and other innovative methodologies.
I've learned to translate my experiences into my post military work and love every aspect of it…and that, is the game changer! Looking fwd to helping others benefit from ACP as much as I have.
I'm a certified Agile HR Professional, Certified Project Director, ICF Certified Coach, Human Centered Design Facilitator and Military Scrum Master. All that said, I've been fortunate enough to have been hired by the same company I currently work for, months out from retiring and am absolutely thriving - you can too...plan, design, execute, re-group and keep going!
