About Marcus

LT Marcus Hayes enlisted in the Ohio Army National Guard as a Military Police Officer in 1996, later enlisted in the Navy in 1999. Following completion of basic training at Recruit Training Command Great Lakes, Illinois, he reported to Dam Neck Fleet Training Center Virginia Beach, Virginia, completing operations specialist training. Hayes later finished an Associates of Arts in Liberal Arts and is completing his Bachelor of Science in Integrated Leadership in April of 2017. He has been accepted to begin his Masters of Science in Project Management at Central Michigan University; he is a graduate Mustang University and the Joint Information Operations Planner course. He was designated a specialist in surface and expeditionary warfare and has qualified Surface Warfare Officer.
Hayes’ early assignments include a tour onboard USS VINCENNES (CG 49) Yokosuka, Japan, pre-commissioned USS PINCKNEY (DDG 91) San Diego, CA as Anti-Surface/Subsurface Tactical Air Controller, Recruit Training Command Great Lakes, Illinois, serving as a Recruit Division Commander. Later he completed a tour an individual augment deployment to Balad, Iraq as Joint Airborne Battle Staff in support of Operation Desert Shield, SEAL Team FOUR Virginia Beach, VA with two operational deployments to Afghanistan in support of Enduring Freedom and numerous deployments aboard ships in the Pacific area of responsibility.
Hayes advanced to Senior Chief Petty Officer and later promoted to Ensign under the Limited Duty Officer program and was commissioned on October 1, 2013. His officer assignments include a tour onboard USS CHOSIN (CG 65) Pearl Harbor, HI as the Air Defense Officer, NIOC Norfolk, and Naval Information Warfighting Development Center.
His personal decorations include the Bronze Star, Air Medal (two awards), Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (two awards), Army Commendation (two awards), Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (six awards), with various unit and campaign awards.

I plan to retire in about six years . I would like to go into business operations or federal law enforcement, but I am still open to other options. I am getting ready to begin my post-graduate education and have thus far focused on Project Management because think it would help produce results no matter where I end up.
