I am trying to get some advice on opportunities in the Training Managment field. Are there any recruiting firms that specialize in NCO's in the training/HR field?

Hi Michael,

A few points. First check out Lucas Group (www.lucasgroup.com), it's a staffing firm by Veterans for Veterans and they specialize in helping former Military find jobs (They require you to have a Bachelors Degree).
Also, it's possible that Training Management is called something different in the Civilian world. I ran into that problem when I was starting my transition.
It'd also help to determine a focus (where is your areas of expertise), i.e, Maintenance Training Development, Sales Training Development, Engineering Training Devlopment..etc. Hope this helps.

Michael,

Send me an email and I will forward the information I found on LinkedIn. Do you have a LinkedIn profile? If not, I would set up one as soon as possible! Also, do you need help with your resume? If you need me to review it before you send it in I am happy to do so.

I am a resume writer and career coach - I signed up for this site to help Veterans with resume and job search assistance so if you need anything I am happy to help!

I saw this on LinkedIn... might be worth checking out. I do not know the person personally, but there is a HR contact with the job description below.

Sterling Infosystems, Inc - Looking to hire an HR Training Program Specialist/Project Mgr. 5+ yrs experience. Doesn't need to be an expert trainer. Smart, ambitious, and the ability to lead & manage the US new hire on-boarding training program. Message me if you know anyone or if YOU are interested.

I can find out more information if you need it.

Thank you for your service!

Hi Michael, my response is similar to the advice offered by Damin. Skills are transitional and can apply in so many ways. For example, Project Management is often a very valued skill - review your tasks associated with your training. Also review job postings with an open mind - the language may be different but the related activity can be same. When applying, ensure where appropriate, that your resume shows a relationship between your skills and the requirements of the job. This will often influence modifcation of your resume to highlight association. It is usually determined that one resume does not fit all.
Since you are looking for a recruiting firm you want to provide the best tools possible and your resume is a critical tool. Be sure to include specific achievements accomplished in your role. For example, if you trained a team and the training resulted in less errors, less injuries, improved process time, cost savings/cost avoidance etc...be sure to include this information. Employers want to see results and envision the potential value you may offer.
