I’d suggest that you network at the target company or industry. Use LinkedIn to find people already working there and reach out to them. Ask them the process they used to get hired and ask them to help you navigate the hiring process and if they are willing, ask them to submit you as a referral. These activities require much more time on your part but in my opinion would greatly increase your chances for success. Good luck!

Hello CPT Morris, fellow soldier and fellow Tim:
I too recommend setting up a profile on usajobs.gov to explore opportunities for veterans. I also recommend my former agency, US Citizenship and Immigration Services, the benefits arm of immigration. It has offices all over the country and great opportunity for advancement into higher grades not found in many other federal agencies.
Best wishes for your success!
Tim

If you are trying to figure out what to do next, I highly recommend "What Color is your Parachute?" It will help you understand how you are wired and what your mission in life is. It was pivotal in my own life, and many of my proteges have found it quite helpful.
