Hi April!

It’s great that you’re interested in graphic design.

I’ve had the honor of working with many graphic designers and art directors.

You should check out the AIGA, the professional association for design.

https://www.aiga.org/

This organization offers many resources.

You’ll be able to learn more about graphic design, network with other designers, and ultimately ask for advice on the industry.

You should also look into the Adobe Max conference.

You can watch past sessions for free.

https://www.adobe.com/max/2021/sessions.html?trackingid=R3B5NSC7&mv=email

You’ll be able to learn more about design in all its forms, discover great designers, and hopefully build a list of designers that you want to approach for advice.

Hope this helps!

Good luck on your research into this great field!

Best wishes,
Ming Lai

There are some basic rules, HireMilitary has a real good guide on Informational Interviewing. This is also a great way to network, when you close politely ask if they know someone that would be willing to help our a a service member/veteran interested the career. Hi April,
Thank you for your (and your spouse's) service.

Would you mind providing a little more info about what you are looking for:
1. Are you looking for a fulltime job, or part time work?
2. Are you interested in working for a company, or consulting?
3. What is your level of experience and/or training in it, to date?
4. Are there aspects of graphical design that you are particularly drawn to?

Thanks, Paul
