Apprenticeships with IBM

Veteran

Dakota McGraw East Syracuse, NY

Has anyone here had any success getting into an apprenticeship at IBM? I am trying to network and get into their cybersecurity apprenticeship while I pursue my BS in cybersecurity. I applied to one in the past but never heard back. Wasn't sure if anyone here has any advise on how to get into the door there.

You will also want to use LinkedIn.com the professional networking site. You can reach out to former buddies and see where they are working, as well as Alumni Groups like the US Army. This will help build a network of people who may know of potential opportunities. You should be spending 3 hours on LinkedIn connecting to people and try to get your contacts over 500 as it will have headhunters (20% of the job openings) reaching out to you. Also, the more contacts you have the more connections you will gain in an industry.
One last point never ask for a job - ALWAYS ask for advice as that can lead to a conversation, which may lead to an opportunity.
After you get a job keep up on LinkedIn at least 3 hours a week to build your network. If you are interested in Finance & or IT reach out to me & my 2500 primary contacts will become 2nd level contacts for you. Some are ex or current IBM employees.

Back in October 2021, IBM spun-off their technology services business, creating a new independent company, Kyndryl (now the largest technology services provider). If you were interested in IBM jobs, many moved over to Kyndryl. You can check these out at https://careers.kyndryl.com/search-jobs?k=cyber&l=&orgIds=37541

You could click on the community tab on the ACP webpage.
Then click on the Companies tab.
In the "Search for advisors from" box enter your desired company (ie IBM).
Click on each of the various search results for your company selection
Select, View and message some of the the advisors listed.
