What does this site offer?

Veteran

Robert Rusk Aurora, CO

I have been bounced around from site to site telling me "go here for help" and no one can actually help me. I cannot find work in my area due to my disabilities. I have interviews but I cannot get hired.

Thank you for the responses. I have registered with what ever sites II am able to. I have gone down this rabbit hole before as all I end up getting is extra junk emails. I live in an area that only has food and retail jobs. Both Home Depot and Lowes will not hire me due to the lifting requirements. Any other places are a bit of a distance from me and there is no way for me to get there. I am hoping to find a remote job but so far no luck. Not to sound too much of a downer but many of the sites that offer jobs for disabled anyone are extremely low paying and actually do not exist. It makes me feel that they are just companies that create a system of referrals, ones that are not properly researched. Funding that goes to these sites to help veterans are actually just paying their paychecks and not creating jobs for us. I have a few of these "mentor" companies if they are able to hire me and they say that they do not do that. So I will keep at it and, well, as much as I am trying I am still unemployed.

ACP is known for providing mentors to military seeking guidance in a new career.

You emphasis is your disabilities, "I cannot find work in my area due to my disabilities." People are providing you links to sites that provide assistance in seeking employment, even one that provides preference to hiring disable veterans.
Thank you for your service to our country and God Bless.

Hi Robert,

Thank you for your question! First, I would like to share a bit more information about ACP AdvisorNet and how you could use the site. ACP AdvisorNet is our career advice site, which allows you to connect with Advisors and Veterans from across the country. In addition to asking questions that the Advisors on the site could review and answer, there are some other features as well. You could take a look at our “Articles” tab, which has some articles related to a number of topics like Career Advancement, which you may be interested in taking a look at. We also have our “Community” feature, which allows you to search for contacts in your location and industry of interest. From there, you could directly message individuals with career and industry-related questions. Since you mentioned that you are looking for work, you may want to refer to our “Jobs” tab, to see if there are any roles posted there in your industry/location of interest.

We have also found some other resources/websites that you may be interested in taking a look at. These websites provide insight into some of the different types of resources available for Veterans, and some of them provide information about potential job opportunities that you may be interested in:

I've added a Government Occupations section to my website eehot.com/ee.html#jobs
Several links for veterans are in Bold.
The government purports to give preference in hiring to disabled veterans.

There are also links to job search sites.
