Get an MBA and/or CPA.
Acquire 10+ years experience in an industry.
Earn a reputation as an expert in your chosen field.
Do extensive networking.
Join as many professional associations as possible.
Post your request on the SBA supported SCORE.ORG site. You can request a mentor and sign up for programs locally or with a chapter more experienced with m and a, e.g. I’m a mentor in the Silicon Valley chapter and I think all 70 of our mentors have been involved in some part of an m and a during our careers.
Score mentors and services are always free.
