William,
Start researching what the career entails. I think you might find that military leadership and its applicability in the commercial market will differ. It will be key to focus on what part of the consulting business you are interested in, take a look at some groups on LinkedIn, maybe connect with Michael Quinn and take one of his how to market yourself virtual programs.
Remember that you are part of the 0.5% of Americans who serve their country. You are very well respected, but the chance civilians have been part of the 0.5% simply means they will not understand your language or experiences-without translation. Thank you for your support and sacrifices. God Bless https://www.linkedin.com/pulse/come-prepared-transition-process-gap-between-civilian-jerry-welsh/

Get involved with your local Chamber or economic development organization. I started my leadership development consulting business after I had attended many after hours and professional development sessions offered by our Chamber. I then offered to facilitate a few sessions on specific topics that I specialize in. They may have a professional development committee you can join as well. Best wishes and thank you for your service!

Hi William,

Thank you for your service and for your question!

If you are specifically looking for opportunities in the Greensboro area, our Community feature is highly recommended. You can search by zip code to see who is in that area, and message individuals to make local connections.

Hopefully this helps!
