Capstone Project Idea?

Veteran

David Roman Raleigh, NC

Using public data, what are questions that would be good to answer/investigate for a capstone project [that would be of interest to large employers]?

I'd be incorporating Microsoft Power Apps/BI and SQL Server.

David. Thanks for your service to this amazing country. Based on the tools you mentioned, I am making the full assupmtion that you're savvy with them. Therefore, I would recommend, in addition to some of the tips already provided, that you look into how to solve supply chain constraints using data and predictive analytics. It's hot at the moment. The lessons from the recent pandemic fallout have opened up opportunities for companies to further retool their supply chain strategy using data.
Another area would be customer experience (CX) to help companies retain valued customers. The tools you highlighted along with excellent collaboration with others will serve you well.

David,

I would offer something in either the block chain and/or cryptocurrency domains as those areas seem to be screaming hot these days where a lot of pent up opportunity would appear to exist. That said, I do not know enough about either to suggest a specific question or question set.

John Moline maybe able to help with that

Good luck and happy hunting!

Most employers are very interested in the labor market - how they can attract talent. The US Bureau of Labor Statistics has publicly available data. In addition, it might be possible to get some anonymized data sets from Indeed, LinkedIn, or Monster.com.

Hi David,

Thank you for visiting ACP AdvisorNet! When it comes to finding a capstone project, I have several tips from my own experience choosing a topic:

- Look at your available sources before settling on a topic. Make sure that you will have enough information available to be able to really dive into the topic.
- Look at job listings in companies and positions that you are interested and work backwards from there. Which topics allow you to showcase the skills they are looking for?
- Choose something that YOU find interesting. You’re going to be spending a lot of time on this project, and it really shows when the writer is passionate about the subject.

You should also feel free to reach out to the many Advisors that we have in the Community section of ACP AdvisorNet. Many are available to message and are happy to help!
