Logistics (warehouse operations)

Veteran

Lloydresia Jones Clarksville, TN

I’m looking for someone who can point me in the direction of someone who knows the process of getting a contractor or GS job in the field of logistics. Also, how should my resume be formatted to fit this career field? I have military experience in this position.

Please consider USPS, UPS, and FedEx. I love using my logistics skills with USPS and know UPS and FedEx also support hiring veterans. All three companies have logistics positions in all levels. Very exciting work. It has been a great adventure. USPS is federal so you continue to build your retirement years. Best wishes and thank you for your service.

I’d suggest that you network at the target company or industry. Use LinkedIn to find people already working there and reach out to them. Ask them the process they used to get hired and ask them to help you navigate the hiring process and if they are willing, ask them to submit you as a referral. These activities require much more time on your part but in my opinion would greatly increase your chances for success. Good luck!

Lloydresia,
Hire Heroes USA holds virtual workshops on the USAjobs resume and application process. You will also find assistance via the Hiring our Heroes platform for similar virtual workshops. Many of the government jobs will be via USAjobs, it is also to become involved with contractors and conducting informational interviews. This not only increases your knowledge and what are important in those positions, it lets you speak with the professionals in the industry already. Thank you for your service and God Bless.

Hello Lloydresia,

Thank you for your service. I recommend building a profile on LinkedIn that outlines your experience. You can use sites such as Indeed.com to view jobs you might be interested in. Review the job postings and build your profile based off the job descriptions. With your military experience, I'm confident there will be good matches. Amazon also offers a program called Military Pathways, which I've heard is a good foot in the door at a great company. I've copied the links below. Good luck, let me know if you have any further questions or need help setting up the profiles.
