Transitioning to Healthcare

Veteran

Wen Lin Odessa, FL

Hi Everyone,

My name is Wen Lin, I've served in the U.S. Navy for 15 yrs and worked in the business world. Because of recent family losses and seeing what's going on with the pandemic, I've decided to start my life over and pursue medicine so I can contribute towards the fight for healthcare equity. I'm currently back in school as a Post-Bacc so I can apply to med school next yr. Would love to get some advise and mentorship on the transition to healthcare professions. Thank you so much for your time and please stay safe.

Fight On!
Wen

Another option to consider is getting into Medical Devices sales or marketing. You can get exposed to healthcare from a different perspective.

Hi Wen,
There are many ways to improve healthcare.....From become a doctor; develop a new Vaccine/medicine, invent a new surgical device.... to become a Sourcing professional saving existing product cost to fund the next medical innovation... Not sure what is your specific goal. If you think it may add value to you, we can set up a call to share more.
Regards,
Po

Move into Health Care with a skill you already have that they need in their operations. Get your foot in the door.

Hello Wen - that is very honorable of you. What I would say is go out and search for individuals with a good reputation all across the medical landscape and look for a mentor - Dr. Surgeon - Nurse - whatever the position you will be attaining. - Also while in school start reaching out and do informational interviews with that wide variety of positions and get their reasons why they chose that position then make that decision for yourself - build your healthcare network on LinkedIn. Join my network as I have just under 9000 connections and a lot are in healthcare - https://www.linkedin.com/in/garyrossibaldrigecoach/.
