Hello Joselyn,

I highly recommend using https://www.hireheroesusa.org/ I had incredible help from them and creating a resume for me for the positions I wanted. They do civilian and federal, are prompt, extremely friendly, and the absolute best. They helped me tailor my resume for my current position.

Joselyn,
Much of the above advice is great, especially the mentor-ship. You will need a career to focus on, and with security as your experience unless your plan to migrate into a security or law enforcement field. Preparing for that career will be key, and learning that career will be even more important. I would suggest speaking with your mentor about career research and actually conducting some your self. Informational Interviews are great once you select or narrow down the career field, .find out more about the field from people who work in it every day. What from your military background applies, and I wish leadership was transferable, it is not a skill outside of the military commercial companies jump on. You need to show value in the career field you are searching for, as the competition will have that experience and skill set. Look at job postings for the positions in the career field, match those to your rough resume, actually put it through jobscan. co (yes co not com), what % match on keywords are you getting. That is what recruiters look for are the key word. Here are a couple quick reads, I would suggest hooking up with a mentor, maybe contact HireMilitary and when you need help with a resume seek out Hire Heroes USA.org NEVER PAY FOR ANY CAREER ADVISE OR RESUME HELP-TONS OF GOOD ASSISTANCE FOR FREE AS A VETERAN.
Remember that you are part of the 0.5% of Americans who serve their country. You are very well respected, but the chance civilians have been part of the 0.5% simply means they will not understand your language or experiences-without translation. Thank you for your support and sacrifices. God Bless https://www.linkedin.com/pulse/come-prepared-transition-process-gap-between-civilian-jerry-welsh/

Hi Joselyn,

Happy to give your resume a gander once Denton reviews and you have incorporated any of his suggestive edits.

It would be helpful to know what industries/sectors and types of positions that are of interest to you.

Feel free to DM me if you would like to email me your resume.

Also, I am assuming you are presently in or have been in an ACP Mentorship. If not, I strongly encourage you to take full advantage of their mentoring program. Terminal leave is a critical time. Having the guidance from a Mentor in addition to folks supporting you via this platform will help ensure a seamless transition for your next chapter.

Hope to connect soon!
Robert
