Insurance Claims Career Field

Veteran

Timothy Birdwell Midland, GA

I am a transitioning Soldier in Georgia. I am seeking any mentorship or advice on the Insurance Claims field. I’ve did some initial research, and the travel opportunities with Catastrophe teams and other outside claims teams sound appealing. I would like any networking or career advice available such as recommended training and translating my experience to help me be marketable in the field. I have spent the last 20 years as an Infantryman, so I possess many of the soft skills required, but lack experience most of the job listings recommend. Thank you for any help this community can provide. Any internship opportunities available in the Insurance field such as DOD Skillbridge would be much appreciated as well.

Thank you gentlemen for your responses I will reach out to both via email. I’ve been researching online as much as possible. I am considering taking a prelicensing course and then taking the Georgia license test to have that on my resume. Although companies like Travelers train their adjusters in house which would be a great opportunity as well.

HI Timothy,
The Travelers is currently looking to identify interns and they are encouraging candidates to apply prior to Friday, January 15th in order to be considered.
So time is of the essence.
there are a number of listings at www.travelers.com/careers I would suggest that you consider the Summer 2021 Claim Internship – Property or Summer 2021 Claim Internship – Auto Physical Damage or Summer 2021 Risk Control Internship programs.
I would apply regardless of the location as many will likely be virtual.
I don't work in the Talent Acquisition team but if you have questions you can e-mail me at jporell@travelers.com. Travelers has been named to the Military Times Best for Vets: Employers list for the seventh consecutive year.
