Good morning DF Jackson,
Working closely with LinkedIn over the years, I have learned about their studies and what Recruiters and hiring managers of all types look for in a profile. First and foremost, you want to be comprehensive. This means including a pleasing photo, an About section (can include an overview and focus on your target industry/role, plus outline key strengths, skills and competencies that would be relevant to the role you're after or industry you're seeking. Each position from the military and other experiences should include a brief narrative about what you did in the role. This is the part of your profile that Recruiters will zero in on -- don't just list the organization and title. Next, if you have your eye on a new industry, be sure to be "following" it in your Interests section. For example, professionals focused on the Tech industry who show no interest in firms within the industry, recruiters may wonder about their genuine interests. Finally, know that the profile allows you to include much more information than a standard resume. Take advantage of this! If you have special projects that you completed and want to include a video or PPT, it's very common to do so. Please be in touch if I can be of any further help. You can reach me at mary@adviseu.net.

Thank you for your service to our country!

Hi DF! First, thank you for your service! I had the same thought as Jerry. Your background sounds interesting — I think there are a number of positions in industry wherein that experience and training would provide differentiation from other candidates. I’d be happy to help with your linkedin profile. Feel free to have a look at mine to see if you think it is along the lines of what you’re aiming for. https://www.linkedin.com/in/cathy-salerno-4934b210/

I can not seem to locate your profile. If you could send me the name used or a link I would be very happy to review.
