I think it would be helpful for any potential mentor to more clearly understand the rationale behind these big career moves or why you're interested in M&A.
Do you want to be involved in entrepreneurship through acquisitions or a search fund? Are you looking to acquire a business as part of a current venture? Are you trying to make a career switch into being a transactions professional after investing so much of your time into chemistry? In what capacity do you want to be involved with transactions -- as a diligence professional, banker, consultant, venture capitalist, etc?
Without providing this level of detail, I couldn't even provide directional advice.
