I am interested in pursuing contracts on my own. Any suggestions on getting started?

I have already registered with all the appropriate agencies and am legally able to bid on contracts in SAMS. I have pursued a SBIR contract, but was not selected. I have also contacted my local PTAC for advice and have been set up with a Bid Match search.

Carey:
June's advice is on point.

have you met w/ other contracting companies in your area (large and small) and discussed partnering for some contracts? You may not be the prime, but that will help you build your "period of performance" for future contracts.

Carey,

You may want to go back and do an analysis of why you were not selected for the SBIR. This is a great way to learn through the process of what worked and what didn’t work and adjust.

Thank you for your service.
