My target market is the Midwest to start an Architectural/Engineering/Construction company in SD, NE, IA. How receptive do you think this region will be to have a minority woman CEO/Boss/President; which is not a majority minority people? I choose the Midwest because the people have a strong work ethic, which is what my southern grandmother demonstrated; therefore I can relate to this region on that level. What good/bac things should I look out for?

Whew! I understand why you pose your question as you did. However, put those considerations and concerns behind you forever. Those are very negative and destructive thoughts. You are correct about the geographic areas you mentioned. For years I had clients in that section of the country. The people I met there, value hard work and ethics. Stay away from the coasts. The major point I would make is that to be successful you must have the credentials. You will have to WOW the prospective clients with your credentials and work experience. I founded a nation wide consulting firm and ran it for many years. Let me know if I can provided any additional information.

To clarify your question, are you basically asking for the level of comfort for an area In dealing with minorities?
This is perhaps not a question you should be asking in this fashion.
Having said that, I assure you, businessmen and women all care about their business. They don’t care who you are if you can provide value.
Directly speaking, I grew up in Kansas City, maintain a home there, and can assure you that the Midwest is very not concerned with identity politics or preconceptions based on those factors.
