Would like any information how what is needed to start a recreational league for kids and adults. Looking for types of insurance, what type is business best to operate? Is it best to stay with a llc or others? Any other insights would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you

Robert:

I think your initial step would be to talk or meet with similar non-profit organizations that have existing recreational leagues in your state . It seems to be it would be a lot simpler and less expensive to be affiliated with an existing organization than forming your own . If you decide to organize your own entity, I’d strongly suggest you consult with an attorney with expertise in starting non-profits . I’d also suggest first determining the costs involved in doing so. The first major cost that comes to mind is Liability Insurance. I’m certain there are other initial costs to consider . It seems to me a far wiser and inexpensive route is to align yourself with an existing organization that could provide you with support and structure .

Good luck.
