Good Afternoon,
I am currently scheduled to take part in a virtual sales competition for Gartner, a company that I have been pursuing a career with for several months, this afternoon. I will be using an elevator pitch for the first part of the competition. If anyone has any time to help, could y’all message me with an email to send what I have prepared so far, to proofread it and send back any tips. Thank you!

Hey Milton,
The virtual sales competition was an opportunity to speak with a recruiter at Gartner. We 2 minutes to do an “elevator pitch” about ourselves and to try and land an internship or a full time position. That was followed by 8 minutes of the recruiter asking questions in a behavioral interview type situation. It was really fun. I didn’t make it to the next round, still trying to get comfortable with virtual communications, but I learned a lot about where I stand and what I need to work on.
Hi David,
Thank you for your service, and thank you for your question! Apologies on my end for not getting to it in time for your competition. How did that go? Did you get any feedback that you may be able to apply in the future?
In general, for elevator pitches, you first want to consider the main points to hit, so I would recommend this article from the Balance (https://www.thebalancecareers.com/elevator-speech-examples-and-writing-tips-2061976). This article from LinkedIn (https://www.linkedin.com/pulse/why-should-we-stop-giving-elevator-speeches-sam-horn/) would seem to contradict the previous resource, but actually focuses more on the finesse and art of an elevator pitch. And, if articles are not your favorite medium, this video from Ted Ed (https://ed.ted.com/on/knLuMf8r) may be more helpful.
Let us know how the competition went - feel free to send me a direct message!
Best,
Andrea
