Aside from targeting a resume, seeking informational interviews, gaining enough trust for internal referrals, what else is recommended for someone actively seeking employment?

Hi Jose

Networking is key. Don’t forget to leverage your social network as well. You might find an old schoolmate who just happens to work in that area.

Send me your resume at brock.renshaw@citi.com. And I’ll try to give some pointers.

I’d suggest that you network at the target company or industry. Use LinkedIn to find people already working there and reach out to them. Ask them the process they used to get hired and ask them to help you navigate the hiring process and if they are willing, ask them to submit you as a referral. These activities require much more time on your part but in my opinion would greatly increase your chances for success. Good luck!

Hi Jose,

While seeking employment, it is also great to build your network. In this current time, you will be doing most of this virtually and there are plenty of ways to network. As mentioned in response to your other question, our AdvisorNet is a great way to network. A couple articles on how to network during this time are also included below.
