I just started contacting mentors that may be a good fit for my situation and so far only one has responded and told me he's going to be unavailable for a week. Should I just continue making contact with others if I don't get a response within a few days? I haven't used this system before so I don't know what to expect

Having multiple mentors is not unusual. if you are seeking a mentor for different areas, i would recommend selecting one for each.

Thanks for the suggestion. I'll do that but I'm also wondering if I will be able to have a phone conversation with one or more of them so that I can get a sense of how we might work together in the future if that seems possible based on their other activities
