My name is Ethan Anderson and I'm currently an Army Officer stationed in Germany, looking to transition out at the end of August, and hopefully into a career into consulting.
I'm aware several consulting firms have pushed their recruiting processes to the fall due to COVID-19. Is there any word on whether Deloitte's recruiting for consulting is on pause or has been pushed back?
Additionally, it'd be great to hear any advice or strategies you may have on the best way to position myself in order to secure a 1st round interview.
Best,
Ethan

Ethan,
The most well-traveled route from the military into consulting is through a Top 25 ranked MBA program. As Kevin stated, Deloitte is just hiring for "niche" areas and many firms are in the midst of a hiring freeze, so making this transition during COVID is a little rough.
For transitioning veterans, I'd echo Jiayu - the Accenture JMO program is the only direct-to-industry veteran hiring program of which I am aware. They place in you in a pre-MBA role as a Senior Analyst of sorts. Look up Michael Schifferli on LinkedIn. He can plug you into the program. They'll certainly like seeing Goizueta on your resume.
Hi Ethan,
Is Deloitte your only option for your future career or you are open to other consulting opportunities? I know Accenture has a veteran's program and you may be able to apply right now. Good luck with your transition experience! Feel free to add me on LinkedIn and I may be able to help you with any further questions you may have. My LinkedIn name is Jiayu Wen.

Hi Ethan - thank you for the note and interest in Deloitte.
We are hiring for some niche needs inside our GPS Practice and these positions can be found on our Career site. In addition, networking with practitioners doing the type of consulting work your targeting is always impactful.
Lastly, please feel free to follow up with me directly as your transition nears. Happy to help any way I can.
Cheers,
Kevin
Hi Kevin,
Thanks for the insight, that's good to know what options are currently available. Unfortunately, I'm looking more for opportunities as a generalist to get my feet wet in multiple industries, however, It would be great to speak with you further about other opportunities that may arise in the coming months.
I'll make sure to reach out to you as I get closer to my transitioning date.
Thanks again for your help!
Best,
Ethan
Hi Jiayu,
Thanks for the help! Deloitte is one of the many consulting firms I'd be happy to have a chance to interview with. I know a few people that have worked there as consultants and only have positive things to say about it, so it's very much one that I'm eager to learn more about. That being said, I'm also considering other possible options, such as working for a startup for a year or two, and then going back to school for my MBA and making the transition to consulting then.
Best,
Ethan
Hi Matt,
Thanks for your helpful response. The timing of my transition definitely isn't ideal, but I'm ready to make the most of it. I actually applied to the JMO program in the spring, but was told recruiting wouldn't happen until the fall. That being said, I'll definitely have to reach out to Michael Shifferli to see if there's been any updates concerning the process.
Best,
Ethan
